In recent years, the wireless sensor network as a new network technology has been applied to various applications, which has strong mobility, self-management, flexible topology structure, highly energy use rate and large-scale deployment. Gradually, ZigBee wireless communication protocol which based on IEEE 802.15.4 has come into the most practical protocol of wireless sensor networks in almost every scenario. This paper uses ZigBee protocol to build a wireless sensor network monitoring on the indoor environment, storing sampling data in real-time, and hosting a website to visual real-time data changes.This design mainly involves technology in the field of embedded application dev elopment, wireless sensor network application development and website full stack dev elopment. The design of the system has done these major work as below:(1) Making a choice in a variety of related sensors and hardware platform to build the entire hardware system. The sensors are driven by the open source hardware platform Arduino, and a plurality of wireless transmission modules are configured to form a star network topology.(2) Several filtering algorithms are introduced which are applied to the original data of all kinds of sensors. On the basis of the original sensor sampling data, using improved filtering algorithm for processing to get a smooth and stable sampling data.(3) The data transmission and storage in the network has been optimized. The TX frame and RX frame in the application layer is developed and updated to make the transmission of sensor data to the coordinator node correct and reliable. The upper computer uses automated scripts to read and store the serial data.(4) Then the data in the database can display through the visual interface of the website. The use of open source framework Struts makes data model layer and view layer coordinate and interact well. The use of front-end technology presents the real-time data of four kinds of environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, light intensity and particulate matter with the broken line graphics which can display in the built webpage.Finally, the sensor part of the system is tested by the changes in the external environment, and the transmission part is tested by the long time data transmission test. The test proves the correctness of the data source of the system, the high reliability of the wireless communication, and the possibility of the further expansion for the system.
