A Study For The Reports On The Battle Of Western Yunnan Daily During Anti-Japanese War

The battle of western Yunnan was a major battle in late Anti-Japanese War. It was a mark of China’s frontal battlefield from defensive to offensive. It was also a turn of the war situation of CBI battlefield. In wartime, Yunnan Daily made a large number of invaluable reports which related to military affairs, politics, economy, diplomacy and other aspects. All owned to the concerted and willed efforts of the CCP members underground and Yunnan local authorities and the progressive persons of Yunnan Daily press, who attached importance to big situations and exhausted their honesty and wisdom in order to save our country and our nation, with the influence and impulse of the united front of Anti-Japanese nations and Anti-fascism all over the world. However, you can’t deny that there were some obvious flaws of the reports as Yunnan Daily was subject to the historical conditions and had limitations itself, such as valuing not the masses enough, caring less about the strategic and tactical errors of our army, overstating the military success of our arrmy and even making some untrue reports. Obviously, the reports of the news media in wartime were complicated, but it still had some warning for today’s news media, just as the old saying goes, "studying history, we can understand why there was rise and fall of powers". All in all, there is great historical significance and profound practical value through the study of these reports.
