China’s national areas, mostly located in remote, mass media development is lagging behind. With the development of economy and society, the state investment in minority areas has intensified, and the cause of the mass ethnic areas has been rapid development. With the development of technology, interactive between media and the local community continue to strengthen the mass media has greatly promoted the development of regional social and cultural changes. In this paper, a TV station located in Yunnan Diqing Tibetan Area was choose as the object, exploring the relationship between media and society in specific social situations.The TV station of Diqing is the mainstream media in Yunnan Diqing. Diqing profound historical and cultural heritage, in this context, the development of Diqing broadcasters, showing different from the central station and the provincial, has it’s special status and role. Diqing TV station has become a symbol of the local culture. In order to explore the construction process of the region’s image and cultural by Diqing TV station, participant observation, interviews and text analysis were used in this paper. Investigating on the development and daily news production activities of Diqing TV station, this research came to a conclusion that Diqing TV station plays an important role in this Tibetan society, the media function of Diqing TV station appears in the four aspects:shaping the political authority of the local community, constructing the minority cultural memory, rendering social life, shaping local image. The processof news production activities of Diqing TV station usually affected by political, economic and cultural factors, which makes the grass-roots stations become a power interwoven spaces.
