It is an urgent issue for us to protect and pass on excellent cultures of minority nationalities in China, to enable minority cultures to develop and innovate in modern society, and maintain their uniqueness and superiority. In doing so, television, the most influential mass media, will certainly be conducive to the inheritance and development of minority cultures. From a deeper perspective, this involves not only the change and progress of minority cultures, but also the unity and prosperity in minority areas. Therefore, it is of great significance for China, a multi-ethnic state, to achieve political stability, economic prosperity and national prosperity.In this context, the paper, from a macro perspective, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of Yunnan TV in transmitting minority cultures. In thinking of how to produce a good minority program, we try to explore the unique features of minority programs and the application of these features from the following perspectives:the content, channel, audience and effect of communication, communicator, etc. It is divided into four parts.The first part of the paper briefs the origins and characteristics of minority cultures in Yunnan province, summarizes the strategies of Yunnan TV for spreading minority cultures, and analyzes comprehensively the background. The second part analyzes the status quo. In this part, we make a study of TV programs on minority cultures, sum up the characteristics of narration of minority programs by analyzing specific texts, and analyze the characteristics of the audience and communication channels of minority programs through questionnaires. The statement is objective, but we can deduce the advantages and disadvantages of minority programs, which lays a foundation for the third and fourth parts.Based on the analysis of the status quo, the third part summarizes disadvantages of Yunnan TV in spreading minority programs. The summarization deals with the content, audience and effect of communication. And the conclusion on communication effect is acquired through questionnaires.The fourth part upholds that the advantages should be maintained and disadvantages corrected, and makes a summarization on how to improve minority programs in terms of the content, channel, audience and effect of communication. Finally, we try to put forward innovative ideas on producing better minority programs and spreading minority cultures.In short, this paper gives thoughts to the following aspects:how can Yunnan TV produce and telecast better minority programs; how can minority cultures in Yunnan produce more social significances; and how can these significances be accepted by the masses.
