The Research Of The Marine Economy Reporting Of "People’s Daily" Under The News-Framwork Perspective

Since the 18 thCPC National Congress, with the implementation of the Belt and Road strategy and the marine power strategy, China’s marine economy develops fast.Accordingly, corresponding reports are increasing, too. People’s Daily is the party’s official newspaper, whose news reports on marine economy are a vital window for the rest of world to understand China’s development in marine economy. By studying People’s Daily news reports on marine economy, we are able to find the mainstream media coverage of the marine economy now.Based on the news frame theory, this paper analyzes People’s Daily news reports on marine economy from March 2013 to March 2014 by applying various research methods, including content analysis. The conclusion is that the news reports of People’s Daily on China’s marine economy and strategies about marine economy show positive attitude, and a framework is built to positively report news on China’s marine economy. This framework tries to present that China’s marine economy is promising, significant and its achievement is remarkable.There are some good performances of the People’s Daily reported of the marine economy framework : First, "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" strategy is reported effectively and typically; Second, People’s Daily focuses on processing news content,which makes news reports on marine economy is easy to understand for readers;Third, To some degree, news reports of People’s Daily on marine economy help to set agenda; Forth, news reports of People’s Daily on marine economy concern national strategies so that the reports are profound. As for the lack of the news reports of People’s Daily on marine economy, this paper has drawn four conclusions. First, the source of People’s Daily reports on marine economy is limited and perspective is unchanged. Second, news reports of People’s Daily on marine economy provide unevenly distributed information category; third, it cannot fully support the requirements for marine economy development listed in the 12 th Five Year Plan; Forth,the news reports of People’s Daily have not revealed more questions during the marine economy development of China.Finally, according to the study, this paper gives four recommendations for the mainstream media to report news about marine economy: first, to create a good atmosphere of public opinion, serving the national strategies and escorting the national marine economy development; second, to meet the masses ‘demand ofmarine economic information by broadening the scope and coverage of news; third, to innovate the breakthrough point of news reports, focusing on cultivating and strengthening masses’ awareness of marine; forth, to change the stereotyped thinking of news reports, improving the level of reporting marine economy.
