Assembly sequence planning is the key technology and difficulty of digital preassembly, which plays a decisive role in the complexity and reliability of assembly process. It is an important factor in product design and development stage. As a combinatorial optimization problem, assembly sequence planning still has some shortcomings in the process of generating assembly sequences automatically. This paper takes the assembly model as the research object, researches to the key technology of automatic generation of assembly relation matrix and evaluation function and the assembly sequence optimization method based on adaptive chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithm. What is more, it also provides technical support for assembly sequence planning system. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the paper takes 3D model of the product as the carrier and combines with MBD technology, which has set up the MBD assembly information model to meet the requirements of assembly sequence planning with assembly hierarchy information, assembly relation information and component MBD information definition.Secondly, taking advantage of SolidWorks secondary development technology, the paper extracts and organizes the assembly model information, sets up the automatic generation method of each assembly relation matrix. Then takes the feasibility, stability, redirection and aggregation of the assembly as evaluation indexes, finally, the evaluation function of the assembly sequence are established according to the method of the comprehensive evaluation index function.Thirdly, the assembly sequence is optimized by the discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm. Through a lot of experiments found that the algorithm premature convergence, and easily trap into a local extremum. Therefore, the chaos theory and the particle swarm inertia weight adaptive adjustment strategy are introduced into the discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm, the paper proposes an adaptive chaos particle swarm optimization algorithm for assembly sequence planning, which has realized the algorithm’s global convergence and the output of the optimal assembly sequence.Finally, based on the theory and method of assembly sequence planning, the paper develops the assembly sequence planning system by Visual Basic, and verified the effectiveness of the assembly sequence planning method and the reliability of the system by the example of reducer.
