The conflict between doctors and patients is getting worse in recent years. It has become such an acute social problem that the conflict events reflecting the contradiction is frequently becoming the focus of public opinion.Instead of passively accepting the information presented by media, the public has become a newborn force in the communicating pattern of these events with the help of new media platforms represented by microblogs. Sina microblog is frequently replacing traditional media to exposure the conflicts, and it seems that the discussion on microblogs, the media reports and the recent developments of the events have gotten into a condition of mutual guiding and mutual seeping. The paper will mainly focus on the active performance of public in the doctor-patient conflicts. Starting with three representative events in Nanjing, Hangzhou and Wenling, the thesis carries out an analysis of microblog public discourse and its interaction with media with the help of content analysis and discourse analysis. We hope that the study can afford some new ideas to avoid similar events getting worse under the influence of the parties. Meanwhile, it is also an attempt of carrying out a communication discourse study combined with related theories. The results reveal that medical workers are active participators in the related discussion. Meanwhile, the public’s standpoint is partisan to some extent towards a doctor-patient conflict, and most of them were taking the position of doctors. Besides, there are also other features such as changeful topics, diverse attitudes and frequent irrational expressions of the relevant microblogs. As the two main sources of messages, the interaction between public and media exists in the whole process of conflict events. As the traditional source, media is still the first choice of information getting on account of time and effort saving. However, in the basic commitment to objectivity principle, problems such as inappropriate agenda-setting, sending out rumors and lacking of positive guidance still existed. Given this, in the conflict-ridden moment, how to bring public back to rationality and force media to take the responsibility valorously is worth reflecting on.
