With the development of the Internet and other new media technology, the further development of Chinese TV media industry is impacted, and TV audience is seriously apart. The lack of high quality content resources is also exist. Now TV variety show is one of the major share of screen viewing. How to apply new thinking and technical means to achieve high quality variety shows content production, and bring the audience to aggregate to the front of the television screen, has become the challenge faced by the development of entertainment programs on TV.Big data, as a new way of thinking and means of technical innovation, with all its quantitative core concept, has been widely applied in various fields of society. From the perspective of big data to understand television production, that is, during the broadcast the planning stage of broadcasting, using multi-platform, multi-channel collect millions of levels of data resources, looking for the accumulation of data information, in the huge data analysis of the audience’s needs and preferences, and then targeting content creation and production. Though using the left traces and other data of massive viewing audience, it provides program producer with a new creative perspective, and it also can help to make further marketing precision positioning. So that, the data content production can be a virtuous cycle of application.Based on the history and current situation of China’s entertainment programs, this paper puts forward the existing problems. According to the characteristics of big data, it finds the thinking path of the big data’s application in the entertainment programs content production. Taking the entertainment programs Are You Normal, which is based on the big data content production, as an example, it puts forward the development strategy of entertainment programs on the big data content production. It is hoped that the big data thinking will be given to the production process of TV entertainment programs, which will make the TV entertainment programs better not only to meet the audience and market demand, but also to the cultural value and aesthetic value in the new era.
