Along with the mass's recognition of the entertainment programs, itscontents and form become various accordingly. From the past political preachment role,television turns into a means amusing the public. This change is the inevitable trend ofsocial development, and the result of television industrialization and commercialization,It satisfied the public's spiritual life at the same time.The development of social economy provides an excellent atmosphere fortelevision entertainment programs. The popularity of these programs is the demands ofsocial development, the people-oriented notion and the tendency of broadcasting'sdevelopment in itself. Furthermore, it supplies the masses for the opportunities todemonstrate themselves, and develop their characteristics. As the saying goes "mediumnamely information", which was put forward by Marshall McLuhan, the medium is akind of information, the cultural reflection of the society. So, entertainment programsshould concentrate on the social benefits and orient on cultural and ideological progress.However, there were some questions popped up during this inevitable course. Theenhancement of entertainment function dimmed its cognitive and educational function.Thus, it reached an impasse due to the lack of creativeness and culture-enrichedconnotation. Fortunately, the Third Plenary Session of the Sixteenth Central Committeeof the Communist Party of China put forward that China will pursue a scientific outlookon development that makes economic and social development people-oriented,comprehensive, balanced and sustainable. TO our media, the most important mission isto adhere to the orientation of China's advanced culture, and produce more spiritualfood for the masses. As a result, the State Administration of Radio and Television insistson develop self-innovation, overcome various kinds of shortcomings, and transmitChina's advanced culture.Such powerful media as television must realize that it should not broadcast programwithout contemporary spiritual culture of China. Besides, its employees must qualify forour social demand. Based on such background, the article systematically analyzes thesoil of cultivating entertainment programs and its status quo as well as its trend. According to the analysis, we could reflect on the new vista that entertainment programswould open to us.The first part argues the coming age of the television entertainment programsthrough the programs' features and the audiences' mental demands.The second part elaborates the status quo and the trend of the contemporaryentertainment programs.The third part brings forward some suggestions which expect more entertainmentprograms embodied Chinese characteristics and nationality features.The development of Chinese media industry, mostly builds its foundation onproblem-solving. In reality, the development of every industry or enterprise all achievedfrom problem-solving. Only through this inevitable course, it gains its development. Sodoes the Chinese entertainment programs.
