Based on the present situation of the experiment and training centers, this thesis presents an open laboratory theory, that is, open the laboratory to the students when it is not used for teaching. With an appointment, the students can use the lab either to finish the course related assignments, training projects and other extended projects or to do some experiments of their own, and they can get instructions from the teachers. The main aim of the open laboratory construction is to make better use of the facilities and to cultivate greater students.To reduce lab administrator’s work, and to make full use of the lab, this thesis proposes an open laboratory management system, which is based on RFID and uses database to manage data. In this system, we use label to store equipment or personnel information, and then use the RFID reader to read the information which will be sent to the background database for data recording, computing and storage, etc., realizing the management informationization. It works as follows:First, this paper introduces the hardware part of the management system. According to the present situation of laboratory, S50 card is used to meet the demand of data storage, the stickers style card makes it convenient for fixing and installation. The RFID working frequency is 13.56 MHz. Based on the above selection, the RFID system, which uses RAM STM32F103ZET6 to be in accordance with RC500, is produced. It has been tested that the equipment can read and write the S50 card within the prescribed distance and environment, and can be associated with background database, completing the whole process of information recording, computing and storage.Secondly, this paper introduced the open laboratory database management system. This system includes a variety of laboratory management forms, such as user information, laboratory equipment storage table, dispatch table, inventory table, reported loss table, etc. The system involves administrator, laboratory management teachers, normal teachers and students these four kinds of users. Different users with different permissions, can complete different duties like:user management, laboratory management, laboratory reservation, information release, interaction between teachers and students. It has also been tested by adding and deleting data that the database system can complete all kinds of data managing, such as storage, collect and display.With the RFID technology and database technology presented in this paper, teachers can get rid of the tedious work, and have more time to complete the student guidance and do some scientific research work. At the same time, the establishment of the open laboratory management system is good for both teachers and students. Teachers can enter the lab at any time, completing research projects, as well as advancing of knowledge to better cultivate students.The construction of open laboratory in vocational colleges is of great importance in training students1 professional skills, and improving students’scientific research ability, innovation ability, and the rigorous scientific attitude.
