We can hardly do a research on the phenomenon that occur rapidly owing to the limitation of visual retention. To study these transient phenomena deeply, various types of high-speed photography equipment have been developed. For a high-speed photograph system, if it can shoot at a faster speed and obtain more image by one shoot, it will get a better performance. However, this requires high resolution of the filming medium, fast transmission speed of the image data, and large volume of the storage medium. These propose high requirements for the development of image acquisition system in high-speed photography equipment, especially for the design of image transmission module, realtime displaying module, and image processing module. In order to solve these issues, this paper develops a type of image acquisition system with high resolution and good realtime performance for the high-speed sequence laser shaow imaging equiment.At first, this paper introduces several data transmission interfaces in image acquisition system and selects Gigabit Ethernet with high transmission rate and remote transmission distance as the data transmission interface by comparing their performance. Furthermore, GigE Vision Standard based on Gigabit Ethernet is introduced. We also give a brief description of the basic principal of the four part in the GigE Vision Standard, and analyze its unparalleled performance advantage on the aspect of high speed transmission in mass image data. In addition, we introduce the SVCam-hr16050 camera manufactured by German SVS-VISTEK Company. It has dual Gigabit Ethernet interface with maximum data transmission rate of 1 Gb/s and resolution of 4896×3264 pixel. Finally, we present the integrated design of image acquisition system.Image acquisition system mainly consists of two parts hardware and software. The hardware part include one PC, one Gigabit Ethernet switch and eight SVCam-hr16050 cameras, which form a Gigabit Ethernet network. The software part include the camera remote control, image acquisition, the real-time transmission, the image displaying and the image processing programs. The result of integration testing experiment with highspeed sequence laser shadow system shows that the image acquisition system can get eight picture at one shoot, and the resolution of each picture is no less than 10 million pixels; What’s more, all the acquired picture can be transferred to PC and processed in real-time.
