With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, how to utilize the bandwidth further and enhance the efficiency of spectrum and energy has become a primary target of 5G mobile communication system. In order to achieve the future demand of wireless connectivity, the mobile communication field has already started to explore new technologies for 5G. The Massive MIMO is considered to be the core of 5G technology, and has become a hotspot. Wireless channel is the basis of research and development of wireless communication technology. An accurate understanding of propagation characteristics of wireless channel is the theoretical basis of designing or simulating a communication system. Channel measurement is the most effective and direct method of researching wireless channel. The measured data presents the propagation characteristics of the channel accurately, and we can extract the channel model of it. So, the measurement of Massive MIMO channel and modeling research are very important. In the background of development of 5G technology and Massive MIMO, this thesis did a lot of research, measurement and analysis. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, this thesis described the theory of radio channel measurement and modeling. Then a reliable Massive MIMO channel measurement system was researched and designed based on a sliding correlation method. Using the software radio platform as the receiver, the system is low cost, flexible and extensible. The system also has high-capacity data storage and the ability to do long-term data acquisition.Secondly, based on the requirements for MIMO antennas, two multi-antennas are designed for the transmitter and the receiver, and enable the measurement system to achieve the target of the 32×4 MIMO channel measurement in the 2.5~2.7 GHz band. The transmitter’s antenna is a linear array with 32 ±45 ° dual-polarized elements. The array’s vertical main beam width is compressed to 20 ° while the horizontal main beam width is 90 °, which meets the range requirement of the measurement. The receiver’s antenna is a 4-element multi-antenna. By adding decoupling techniques, all combinations of mutual couplings between ports exhibit better than 25 dB isolation. Finally, we did some field measurement in some typical scenarios of the campus. After processing and analyzing the measurement data, some channel parameters were extracted. And the performance of measurement system was verified.
