Nowadays, information technologies are developing fast, playing an increasingly important role in improving the developments of economies, science, technologies and society of all counties, and have become a main indicator for measuring the above aspects. Moreover, information technologies are particularly important for education in the 21 st century, providing powerful guarantees for its development.Along with the fast development of mobile wireless network technology represented by 3G and 4G, cellphone hardware technology and operational systems, mobile terminals have eventually become the first choice for internet surfing. With the convenience, instance and high efficiency of mobile terminals, there is no longer any restriction from time and space of computers, people can get plenty of information anytime and anywhere, enjoying services of different kinds. Studies on how to combine current information management systems of colleges and universities with mobile terminals will become an emphasis on the informational construction of colleges and universities. This article focuses on the design and implementation of the searching system for informational management systems at colleges and universities, trying to develop an information searching system for college and university students based on the Android platform.Firstly, this article decided on the research direction of the system and chose Android cellphones as the client side, based on investigations of current situation of informational management systems of colleges and universities, and constructed the developing platform for the system by studying the basic application development technology for Android platforms.The overall framework and technology selection for the system were decided by the analysis of clients’ needs, client-side requirements on the interface, functions and features. The client-side of the system uses the Eclipse integrated development environment, SQLite database customer login status and communicates with the server through HTTP protocol; the server was constructed by Tomcat 6.0, My SOL database is applied and JDBC serves for information visiting.The function modules were separated and interface layout was designed on the basis on identifying the system framework, and the system database was designed and implemented by analyzing the conceptual structures and logical structures of data needed by the system.The detailed design of the system was finished by designing the flowchart of main functional modules of the system and on the basis of that the coding implementation was finished for the system interface and different modules.At last, the system was tested with an Android simulator and Android cellphones, and the overall development of the system was summarized with drawbacks and outlooks.The informational searching system for college and university students based on the Android platform designed in this article is able to finish tasks of searching students’ information, teachers’ information, curriculum information, scores and grading, it can also implement mutual communication in time and release important announcements. The test shows that the system functions well and steadily and performs the expected functional effects.
