An Empirical Study On Physical And Spacial Expansion Of Library

Virtual library is booming in recent years and entity library has been predicted to die twice, but readers in entity library of colleges and universities continue to grow.As a third space of the teachers and students study life and the second classroom of students’learning, entity library created learning, scientific research atmosphere, which is unable to simulate by the virtual library. According to The Common Colleges and Universities Library Evaluation Indicators that Chinese average dorm area is 2 square meters, reading seat with school enrollments is 1:4, most of 985 colleges and universities in our country unmet this standard. Therefore, studying on an effective way for university library physical and spacial expansion can promote the development of university library healthily.This study uses literature analysis, empirical research method, mathematical statistics and other research methods. The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) Phenomenon analysis as the logical starting point for research.Focused on the lack of physical space area and explore the essence and source of the problem based on the "a difficult beg" and "line rob"in school library.(2) Literature analysis thus set up the theoretical support.The paper has been clear about the existing significance of physical library and the current research status of entity library development, defined the "expansion" of library physical space extends to the public space, and summarized the existing cases of university library expanding to the campus public space through reading related papers.(3) Based on the requirements of user is the direct power to push expanding. Conducting the reader questionnaire research focusing on the needs of readers, to explore the readers’ will of the library physical space expansion.(4) Library physical space expansion is a complement to the service for the school library.Existing and potential library physical space in the minhang campus of the East China Normal University is analyzed, the use condition of teachers and students is tracked and investigated.The existence of each entity space is added to the school library service. Play the maximum role of each entity space, library physical space system in the center of school library should be built.(5) To explore an effective way for university library physical space to expand. Entity space development in college library includes two approaches:guided by the school library, introducing school internal force to participate and guided by the school library, introducing social forces to participate in the school. We should follow the four specific mechanisms:situation as a whole the total branch, the independent system, the loose confederate, mutually beneficial cooperation.
