Study On The Users Behavior Of Information Access And Use

The archival users are the main part of archival work, and study on the archival users is always the most important part of archival study. The people oriented service concept surrounding archival users has been widely accepted by the archival circle. In order to provide full catering service for archival users, we should first know the information needs of users and get hold of users’mentality. And on this basis taking actions to enrich the utilization methods. There are many influencing factors in our daily life and the information needs of users are always changing. The users mentality changing accordingly so the information behavior of users become more complex and changeable. The study on the information behavior of the archival users will provide reference materials for archival department on making rules and regulations and finally provide convenience for all sectors of the community.This article is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction. Mainly discussing the objective and significance of this topic. Introducing the domestic present situation and summarized the related research. And then explain the thoughts and methods of this study, points out the innovation points and inadequate.The second part is theory summary of the information behavior of the archival users. Firstly defining the concepts of archival users and the information behavior of the archival users. Secondly introducing the three influencing factors:the information requirements of archival users, applied psychology and the utility pattern of archival users. After that, I analyzed the new change of the three factors under the new situation and summarized the regularity of the archival users of their information behavior.The third part is analyzing the utilization status. I explain the status from archival users, archivist and archival departments three dimensions. Mainly includes:the archival users is small in scale and single source;the awareness of archives is very low; the ability of expression of archival needs is also very low; different users prefer different kind of services; high level archival needs are hard to be fulfilled,some archival department get restricted usage of archives; the manner of using archives has not formed.The fourth part put forward countermeasures of problems users meet during the process of archive using. I think, in order to solve these problems we meet in this process, we should take actions from three aspects:country, archival department and archival users. First we should take actions promoting propaganda to enlarge the scale of archival users. Secondly, we should enhance the society awareness of archive by attaching importance of archival education. Thirdly, the archival department should cater to archival users’pleasure. Fourthly, proximity of archives should be emphasized. And at last, people should train the habits of using archives.The fifth part is epilogue, I make a brief summarize of this article, point out the necessity of the study on the information behavior of the archival users, and I firmly believe that the archival career of our country must be flourish in the future.Study on the information behavior of the archival users will provide the basis for archival departments and is beneficial to enlarge the scale of the archival users. It will change the present situation and optimize the archival services. Finally, it will extend the service field. Studying on the information behavior of the archival users, taking deep analysis of the process of the storage and use of archives is beneficial to achieve the value of archives, it is also the responsibility of the archivists.
