The objective of this research paper is to address the processes of producing a TV show and problems that arose in the production by conducting a case study of Daily Entertainment Broadcast of BTV with a qualitative research method. Based on an audience’s perspective, and considering their psychological needs, this paper seeks to find out an effective way to improve infotainment programs and increase popularity among audiences.Intertainment programs in China originated in the late 1990 s, the film dynamic news reports as the main content of a news program form, the news and entertainment together effectively a form of show. Intertainment programs and development is the inevitable outcome of the social development to a certain stage. When leisure entertainment began to become part of people’s life, awareness of entertainment information becomes the psychological foundation of this kind of program, as a result, a large number of TV entertainment information class begins.Since its establishment in 1979, BTV launched 14 channels and 147 columns. Up 10 the present, the entertainment channel has a total number of 15 programs including 7 daily columns and 8 weekly columns. These different types and styles of programs consist of interviewing stars, columns specially featured on movies, interactive entertainment programs, infotainment, etc. Amongst various TV shows, there are several programs stand out. For instance, Starry Night Story, The Lovely Weekend of Chunni, and Daily Infotainment Broadcast.In order to have a better understanding of the state of development and possible problems of infotainment programs, the author became a trainee in Daily Infotainment Broadcast in BTV since June 2015. During the internship, author participated the whole process of producing the TV program as a director, and took this opportunity to get a comprehensive understanding of the production processes of infotainment programs. It also facilitated to gain knowledge regarding what makes audiences interested in this type of TV shows. Author intends to come up with effective improvement suggestions to help the production team think outside the box and avoid letting their success block their vision. The improvement on the fixed pattern of thinking will enable the production team to be innovative on the infotainment content, consequently increase the popularity and reputation among audiences.
