With the expansion of the Internet,the bandwidth of IP network is increasing rapidly,and at the same time,various network applications such as remote-reducation, remote-medical treatment,video conference,video phone are constantly emerging and the businesses are showing their diversification. So much higher requirements are needed for the quality of service and transmission bandwidth in the Internet.As the main network equipment in the core network,the high-end routers play an import role which are widely used in the government departments,the state grid,education network,the three operators,etc.And the high-end routers are complying with the demand of the network nowadays and contantly improve their technologies,With their high reliability, high scalability and high performance of the key attributes,it can effectively broaden the original Internet backbone bandwidth eliminate the bandwidth of the network node bottlenecks,solve the traffic problems in Internet backbone and can provide various business interfaces.Besides,the performance of the high-end routers affects the stability and the quality of service directly. So the study and improvement of them will be the focus of research of network equipment in the future.This is the research background and significance of this paper.This paper mainly studies the hardware design of the line card of high-end router, combined with the high-end router project.On the basis of the research of network processor,it puts forward the design thought which seperates the data plane and control plane.Combined with the thought of modular design line card plus daughter card,which means the same line card can be coupled with daughter card which has different type of interface.In this way,it can realize the flexible configuration and the seamless connection between line card and the daughter card.Then the principle of design of unit which combined with data processing unit of line card and master control unit and selection of the chip.Then this paper studies the PCB layout of the line card. Combining with the theory of transmission line, the signal integrity and practical experience of the wiring, it has an in-depth analysis the wiring rules and principles of high-speed signal lines on the line card which is very critical.In the end,the test of high-end router line card is done.Through analyzing the results of test,the feasibility and practicability of the design is verified.It shows that the design not only posseses the performance of high-speed network packet processing, but alos has the characteristics of easy programming, flexible configuration and can achieve almost all function of the data link layer and network layer, which can satisfy the requirements of large capacity and multilingual business interfaces, has the very high practicability and reference value.
