As the rapid development of PC information technology, network information technology is more applied in different industries. But for major labs from small and middle size enterprise, information management mode is still on concept basis and some enterprise even never consider such technology application in lab. My company is related to the security and safety product manufacturing industry focusing on the security cameras and it pays a lot attention to the product R&D of basic technology and technology reserve. Following the R&D dept. requirement, the lab is responsible for all product tests in concept design phase, sample test phase and finished product phase. All records of the test and experiment are still done on the paper by hand, input in computer for record purpose and then forwarded to the related R&D team. This process takes a lot of time and effort, prolongs the develop period of product and causes the communication delay between the lab and R&D center. Since the existed system in the market is for common use and cannot meet our requirement and to customize such special system will take a lot of time and money, how to design an information management system for our lab specially becomes a valuable topic for us. So I focus to develop a system suitable for the current lab management, which is with low development cost and reliable performance. So on studying the operation of lab, I do some feasibility analysis in this essay on the network information on the lab according to the feature of the enterprise.Firstly I did the detailed analysis on the lab operation and R&D requirement. The function requirement module is composed of R&D staff module, experiment staff module, quality staff module and system information module. All data can be shared in these modules for transparency purpose. In the meantime, during the R&D process in this system, I also consider the possibility to combine the automatic data collection system for part of experiment equipment. The automatic input function of experiment data can be realized by the analysis of data structure collected automatically and it will help to improve the experiment efficiency much. According to the requirement module, I design the total frame of information management for lab and explain all data structure used and key words in the table. Each module process details are designed with full explanation. In the end, the development environment and main design tools of the system are introduced and the final user interface is displayed.Through setting up the server with SQL Server database, using ASP script and SQL language, the system is based on B/S network framework and is able to input, summarize, analyze and inquire data for the lab management information system. All lab staff and R&D staff can register the experiment, distribute the experiment resource, input the experiment result, inquire data and manage the system by using the WEB client page in their own computers.
