Due to the characteristics of high speed serial data transmission, after being used in network system design initially, fibre channel has been widely applied in SAN along with the urgent demand for storage network’s storage content and communication speed in all areas. The change in application lays a solid foundation for the needs and development of storage network and creates a network environment with high reliability and high performance. As a core component of SAN, FC switch uses optical fiber as the transmission medium to accomplish information exchange of every node in the fiber channel network system, which has the advantages of high speed and strong anti- interference ability. The performance of FC switch has direct effect on the function of SAN. Now most FC switch technology applied in SAN in the market is mature and has already reached a high standard in terms of functionality and performance. However, most key core technologies are still mastered by those foreign companies such as IBM and C isco, who implement technical blockade. In addition, the characteristics of commercial switch also restrict the application in certain circumstances; on the other hand, domestic research institutes have not carried out large-scale industrial application concerning this technology. In general, domestic research on FC switched network and the relevant domains is still in the early stage.By analyzing the related agreement of fibre channel, this paper mainly focuses on proposing a system framework with N×N port(the values of N are 8, 16, 24, 32, etc.) full-duplex fiber channel switch chip. Besides, the author formulated and perfected the design verification process considering the network control interface of switches.Fibre channel protocol is a high-speed serial data transmission protocol formulated by American National Standards Institute in the 1990 s, which has replaced the traditional TCP/IP network in storage area network s and become the new standard for data transmission with its advantages of high bandwidth, high transmission rate, long distance transmission, and high reliability and scalability. Meanwhile, in the design of modern aviation equipment, the main structural form of avionics systems also abandons previous structures and begins to adopt integrated system structure s. Furthermore, in this storage network environment, fibre channel protocol has been gradually us ed as the standard for network communication protocol in modern avionics systems. In the paper, the author discussed FC’s layering and topology, and proposed design requires of fibre channel switch based on the Switch Fabric which has the most superior performance. After a brief introduction of FC switch chips, the necessity of network control interface for the switch has been put forward according to its internal characteristics, such as network control, address management, routing etc.And then by using High Level Design Methodology, the author analyses and extracts the main functions of the module in accordance with relevant agreements, and the design and implementation process of switch network control interface are also analyzed in a detailed way. Finally, by combining HW-SW co-design verification method, the network control interface is verified and exploited in virtual platform and FPGA platform verification environment respectively. A detailed presentation is given based on the verification process. In addition, corresponding verification results and reports are also given concerning whether key function points are realized.
