Grain is the foundation of human existence as well as important strategic reserve resources to the country. As a big agricultural country, our country also has large population. The problem of grain security is related to the economic development of the country and the security and stability of the society. Granary is an important form of grain reserve; its design and function directly affect the quality of grain reserves. Therefore, it is important to develop the modern granary. Traditional granary uses the way of combination of wired communication and manual operation. There are many shortages such as high cost, poor expansibility, and maintenance difficulties. This paper combines ZigBee wireless communication technology with sensor technology. It designs a granary monitoring system based on ZigBee technology.This paper makes detailed demand analysis from three perspectives of application scenarios, features and performance on the basis of the domestic and foreign research. Then make design requirements clear and forms the overall design scheme.In line with the system performance requirements to meet the overall design principles, the hardware design schemes are compared in detail.Finally chose the DHT11 sensor and MQ-2 sensor with CC2530 chip hardware solutions. The hardware structure of the end device node, router node,coordinator node,computer software and database are designed in detail. According to the system overall design scheme, the system is realized, Including the realization of the function of end device node to collect environmental data and transmit wireless data, the function of router node to relay communication, the function of coordinator node to organize and manage ZigBee network, receive wireless node data, and to realize serial communication. The dormancy mechanism of node is added when realizing the function of the end device node. The sleep time of the node is controlled by the overflow of the sleep timer. The end device node periodically wakes up and collects the data. The node energy is saved, and the working life of the node is prolonged. Refer to the Modbus protocol, and standardize the system communication protocol frame format to achieve the system serial communication. Using C++ language in the Visual C++ 6.0 platform to write the host computer monitoring software program for displaying the data. Battery alarm mechanism is added to determine the remaining battery power by detecting current battery votage. When the power information is uploaded, the host computer determines whether the value is lower than the threshhold value and replace battery that is lower than the threshhold value to ensure that the system runs without errors. Finally, the system test platform is set up and the system network test, the system data communication test and overall function test are carried out.
