A Study Of China-related Reports In “Arguments And Facts”:an Russian News Weekly(2012-2015)

National image is closely related to the national interest,with the good image of China formed and spread in Russia,it will help the relations of China and Russia develop continuously.For a long time,the Russian media has paid much attention to China,it’s the mass media which constructs China’s national image in Russia.Therefore,it is extremely worthy of study the topics,the influences,the media position and its changing reason of Russian media in China-related reports.Under this background,in this paper, we use content analysis and discourse analysis,take the most influential and independent Russian News Weekly "Arguments and Facts" as the research object,collect and translate four years’ 1112 China-related reports in 208 of the Week from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2015,generalize and summarize the typical topics in China-related reports,analyze the features and the reasons for changing position,then give references for the establishment and perfection of Chinese external dissemination strategy.In the preface,we analyze the background and significance of the topic,including defining the object of study and research of selected nodes.In the Journals reviewed,we have collected and analyzed currently research results of domestic and foreign scholars about the Russian media and China-related reports.Then we introduce the main research methods and defined our study sample.In the first chapter,we have detailed analysis for China-related reports in“Arguments and Facts”from the quantity of reports, topics distribution,the tendency of reports and so on,then we find out what the Weekly concerned about China in various areas and its position.In the second chapter,we combine with the reality of the background and content of reports,carefully analyze typical topics in China-related reports,show China’s national image in the political, economic, social, military and other topics,and explain how this image formed,why this image changed.In the third chapter,we analyze the report objects, sources and pictures,meanwhile,we explore the influence of "China threat" to China-related reports.At last,we summarize the features and functions of China-related reports from 2012 to 2015.In the fourth chapter,we point out the currently opportunities and challenges we faced when spreading the Chinese national image,with the problems in China-relatedreports, we make a few suggestions about construction system of country image dissemination.In general,China’s national image in News Weekly "Arguments and Facts" is positive,it shows the Russian people the image of a rising country with great power:Political friendship, economic prosperity, social harmony, the military strength of the country.Meanwhile, the weekly also relatively objective point out the negative factors in the development process of China-Russian relations,including excessive dependence on Russian resources, quality of Chinese products, the quality of citizens problems.We should adjust our external communication strategies, such as building a credible national authority of the media, carrying out civic education quality, the introduction of national cultural products,disseminate good China’s national image to the world.
