In recent years, competitions between various wireless communication tec hnologies are becoming more and more fiercer. Under the circumstance that other wireless communication techologies are aiming for higher data rate and farther transport distance, ZigBee is acting in a diametrically opposite way, that is, persuiting lower data rate and closer transport distance. It is really a hot topic to research the network convergence of ZigBee network and other wireless networks. Besides, routing algorithm based on Wireless Sensor Network is another hot topic in the field of wireless communication. This thesis mainly discusses gateway technology and routing algorithm based on Wireless Sensor Network.This thesis designs and implements a temperature and humidity monitoring system based on WiFi and ZigBee, and analys three aspects of demands arises by the system for routing algorithm, that is, low energy consumption, high efficiency routing, and reliable ability of controlling network congestion. In view of these three requirements, this thesis proposes an improved AODVjr routing algorithm based on node energy level, which is based on the traditional tree routing algorithm and AODVjr algorithm. NS2 software simulation result shows that compared with the traditional AODVjr algorithm, the improved algorithm proposed in this thesis has a significant performance improvement in the overall network energy consumption and network congestion control, and enhances the reliability of the network.
