The mobile communication as the most dynamic and evolved communication manner changed the society and humanity’s life. Because of the improvement of the quality of life, the mobile phone which has brought the enormous convenience for people’s life became the indispensable correspondence terminal to everyone. But, along with the development of mobile communication technology, security of the communications system also arrest people’s attention, the phone number is attacked sometimes. In order to avoid this kind of phenomenon, the authentication to the user from the former 1G communications system to the 3G communications system is becoming more and more.strict. At present,4G mobile communication system, which takes LTE (Long Term Evolution) as its representative, has inherited the security design of 3G system, and has a great progress in the structure consummation and the function enhancement aspect.LTE as a new generation of mobile communication system, its capacity and the performance are optimized compared with the former system. In the LTE system, the core network, as a huge system, it played a vital role in the entire network because of its contribution to network’s operation, management and safety. But, take the situation when small capacity and simple function demand in consideration, this article introduce one kind of small core network. The small core network integrated main functions of MME(Mobility Management Entity), HSS(Home Subscriber Server), Serving GW(Serving Gateway), P-GW(PDN Gateway) together, can operate in the specific situation or used as a kind of testing tool to test the function of the base station and the UE (User Equipment). Consideration the user’s security demand, there need to design the authentication process in this small core network,protect the user from hacker attack.In the original actual network environment, MME should obtain authentication parameters from HSS server, then authenticate the user by sending the authentication request to UE. This article provide a way on the principal of simpleness and efficiency to authenticate the user by adding a security module to the small core network to generate and deliver authentication parameters. The design this paper proposed by integrating authentication arithmetic in HSS server into the small core network mainly had three superiority:First, can avoid the complicated coding because of Sa6 protocol stack between small core network and HSS server; Second, can reduce the cost which intended to buy HSS server. Third, can cooperate each kind of test by flexible setting optional parameters in authentication process.
