In the background of the growing popularity of network applications, electronic map has been more and more familiar to people, and has brought great convenience to people’s lives. Nowadays, our lives are increasingly dependent on such famous electronic map systems as Google Maps, Baidu map, bus line inquiry system and so on.In the face of fierce competition and rapidly changing financial markets, domestic banks also need a full use of existing data resources and computer technology to establish effective management system of electronic banking, especially to combine banks with electronic map technology together. Through a unique correlation technology of geographic information systems, banks can transform the existing business data into visual attributes associated with map objects. Using maps to show the information, and forms to predict future business trends in an intuitive and visualized way, the bank can provide managers at all levels with timely, effective aid decision making support. GIS technology is characterized with visualization, which associates a large number of existing business data to geographic information application systems, presents business data with a visual approach on a map object, and displays directly on the map in the form of thematic map. All the above enables visualization of the geographical distribution of banking business, probe of lacation of potential customers, forecast of future market, as well as planning and operation of the existing banking business. The paper first summarizes the research status of online map at the stage, takes the bank electronic map management system for example, and discusses the design and implementation of the electronic map system. Then the paper analyzes the actual needs and technical solutions of electronic maps of bank outlets. GIS, which is now relatively mature technology, is used together with ADO(ActiveX Data Object) data access methods supported by MAPX to achieve the process of electronic map system of the bank outlets.
