The Analysis Of Environmental Reports In "Shanxi Daily"(2007—2014)

As the province possessing rich energy sources, Shanxi is also faced with severe pollution. Since media works as the watchtower of risks in society, it should spread environmental information, supervise environmental problems and predict the environmental risks. "Shanxi Daily" is the organ of Shanxi Government, so the environmental reports of "Shanxi Daily" can reflex how much attention the Shanxi Government paid to environment of Shanxi. Therefore, my research aims to improve the environmental reports of Shanxi media, push the Shanxi Government to pay more attention to environment and finally improve the environmental quality of Shanxi.By studying and comparing the environmental reports of "Shanxi Daily" and "Shanxi Evening News", I am to conclude the feature of the environmental reports in "Shanxi Daily", and come up with some suggestions to improve it. Mainly using content analysis method and frame theory in my study, my report first introduces the background, research purpose and research methods. Then I analyze the contents of the reports in these two newspapers. At last I find out the features that "Shanxi Daily" has strong environmental awareness and are closely related to politics. What’s more, it has the frame of economy development and environment protection. By contrast, "Shanxi Evening News" has remarkable frame of problem and people caring.On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages of the environmental reports in "Shanxi Daily", such as the lack of depth reporting, diversity, supervision by public opinion and people caring. According to these weak points, I also put forwards some measures to improve it.
