High speed imaging system can record the high speed changing process with images, and it is an utilitarian tool for the study of transient phenomena wildly used in industry, scientific research and military. The traditional high speed imaging system uses traditional CMOS image sensor as a photosensitive device, which is limited by chip technology with low performance in the aspect of speed, resolution, dynamic range and readout noise. However, new SCMOS(Scientific CMOS) senors using new technology have good performance in these aspects above, and give a good chance for the development of high speed image system.Researchers from the world wild have paid a lot of attentions to the high speed imaging system and achieved great results during the resent years, it is significant to self-develop the high speed imaging system for our Country. This paper demonstrated the SCMOS sensor based high speed imaging system,which provided a basis for the further researches about it. This paper mainly includes the following aspects:Firstly, the system overview scheme was made on the base of analysis of key technologies about the imaging system,and a SCMOS+FPGA+DDR3+PCIExpress system design scheme was proposed in this paper.Secondly, The structure of system hardware was analyzed, FMC sandwich plate technology based motherboard with daughterboard hardware architecture scheme was proposed. The motherboard system is consist of the imaging control and transmission board of Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA, DDR3 SDRAM and PCIE interface, the daughterboard is only used to construct SCMOS image collection circuit.Thirdly, This paper also analyzed the system software architecture, which is composed of FPGA hardware logic design and visualisation software design, and the FPGA hardware logic design is consist of image collection module, data cache module and data transmission module.Lastly, The image processing method was considered and the image processing fusion algorithm was proposed, which include flat field calibration, gamma calibration, median filtering and hybrid contrast enhancement algorithm(SEL-CT and CLAHE),the aims of which is to achieve noise reduction and enhancement processing for the output image of imaging system, and to generate better images for observation and analysis.In this paper, SCMOS sensor with high performance and ultra high speed was introduced in high speed imaging system, which satisfied the demand of imaging system performance requirement. The introduction of high performance FPGA chips, high-speed and high-capacity DDR3 cache and PCIE bus interface made possible manufacture of high speed imaging system.The experiment results show that SCMOS sensor based high speed imaging system and its local modules are realizable and effective, which laid a solid foundation for the further researches.
