Digital Image Processing system is a device which is used to obtain the image information of the objective world and complete image data capture, storage processing and transmission. Nowadays digital image processing system is frequently used in aerospace, military, medical, industry and other fields. FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) can be dynamically configured with flexibility, and also it can realize pipeline and parallel technology in design, so in large extent it improved the integration, speed and reliability of the image processing system. In this thesis, based on the careful analysis and research on the image processing system, an image processing system is established by using Cyclone Ⅲ series FPGA chip as core processor, digital CMOS image sensor of MICRON as capture device, DDR SDRAM dynamic random access storage chip as memory device, data link layer chip and physical layer chip of1394bus produced by TI Corp to capture, storage, process and transport image data. Therefore, the system is divided into several functional modules according to hardware structure which includes image acquisition module, image storage modules, FPGA core processing module, the image transmission module and peripheral modules. By drawing the Printed Circuit Board of the system and debugging the system the correctness of the hardware in design was verified. The system mainly includes the driver module of CMOS sensor, FIFO memory module, the initialization and control module of DDR SDRAM memory, the initialization and control module of1394bus. The software system was verified to be correct in design by using QuartusII9.0development platform and VHDL hardware description language to simulate those above-mentioned modules.
