Terrorism is an individual or group or even country criminal activity which is calculated use of violence(or threat of violence) against civilians(or unarmed people) and public facilities in order to attain goals that are political or social in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or other destructive means to kill and create fear to threat individual or group or government. Recent years, along with China in her transition, because of the accumulation of social contradictions and the growing force of foreign terrorist organizations in our nation, there is a rising occurrence rate of domestic violent terrorism attacks happened in China. All those violent terrorism events seriously affected the social order and people’s life. Social media shoulders the responsibility and task of providing information, integrating social resource, offering guidance of public opinion and imposing supervision as a main tool of news coverage for people, and its genre, content and diction all affect Chinese people’s analysis and judge for the news events to some extent. Through collect and analyze this kind of news reports that is happened in China’s transition time, the forms, traits and shortcomings used and revealed by social media can be concluded which is surely helpful to the later news reports.This thesis will apply a study on the development news of typical domestic violent terrorism events happened in China reported by the People’s Daily from 2008 to 2014, and analyze the change of their genres, content, amount and source, and finally conclude what behind the news and the deep problems that exist, thus provides reference material for Chinese social media to know how to evade negative effect and fully offer proper guidance of public opinions.
