Lateral control system is mainly to solve the problem of material position offset during the transfer in many industrial production lines. The lateral displacement exists in the unwinding, transmission and rewinding. Strip deviation becomes an important factor in the quality of products. There is a certain gap between the rectification products of domestic and foreign brands in terms of accuracy, responsiveness and stability. Research of the lightweight roll offset of unwinding and rewinding. Lateral control system was designed based on FPGA.First, establishing lateral control system mathematical model and proposing control strategy. Introducing the algorithm of web guider that use fuzzy PID. By analyzing the system front-end of the range of data collected to determine the error and error rate of change of the basic domain and fuzzy domain, as well as scale factor and the quantization factor. Selecting triangular distribution to determine the value of membership that consist of the rule base combined with expertise, using Mamdani to make fuzzy decision that get ΔKp, ΔKi, ΔKd fuzzy output. Weighted average method defuzzification, and output treated as PID input, closed-loop feedback regulation.Then, performing lateral control system hardware and software design. From hardware system, can be divided into signal acquisition, FPGA circuit, motor drive and power supply four modules. Data acquisition module uses infrared sensors and AD7321, FPGA circuits, motor drives and power supplies, carried out the selection and schematic design. Software architecture can be divided into data acquisition, monitoring module, FPGA implementation algorithms and motor control. With a modular design approach, the various parts of the programming, and the use of EDA tools for simulation.Finally, describing some common PID parameter tuning methods to determine the paper’s initial PID parameters, and using Simulink to build a dynamic simulation model of the system.Tests show that Fuzzy PID controller has faster response speed. Compared to the PID controller, the performance of fuzzy PID controller is better. Fuzzy PID control strategy can achieve good lateral control system operation.
