AbstractCoiler is a very important assistant equipment in steel rolling plant and is applied in manufacting strip steel and wire widely. It is the key to improve the performance of coiler's speed and torque control system in order that coiler has good qualities. At present, coiler control system mostly adopts general FED adjuster. Because coiler control system exists many uncertainty factors and non-linearity characteristic which is very difficult to describe firmly, and it is difficult to obtain its precise maths model, it's not impossible to get good control performance if general PID is adopted.In this paper, the characteristic and technics of some 1200 hot strip down coiler control system is studied, and the dynamic maths model of wrapper roll, pinch roll, and snapping roll control system is studied, and the PID adjuster's parameters of the control systems are designed and calculated. The simulation analysis of general PID coiler control system is performed based on MATLAB. During the analysis of control systems' stability response characteristic, general PID adjuster is difficult to get good control qualities. In this article, fuzzy control is introduced. Especially speed-type fuzzy controller, Fuzzy-Pi compound controller and Fuzzy-Pi controller are used in pinch roll control system. From the analysis and study of simulation results effected by different disturbings and the variation of parameter of the control system, it can be concluded that Fuzzy control can reduce the decent of the performance of the control system because of incorrect maths model. Fuzzy control pinch roll control systems improved control systems qualities, and advanced the robust characteristic of control system .
