As Internet technology advances, the demand for network applications also showed explosive growth. Led by video conference, the real-time multimedia services require high performance network with bigger bandwidth and lower delay. The traditional best-effort IP network service model can not meet the needs of people’s demand. To this end, the network Quality of Service assurance techniques has become the best choice for network applications with high reliability and has a lot attention.Network device is the basic element of network. To establish QoS guarantee model in the IP network, the system must combine many network devices’ QoS policies to achieve. Any scheme for QoS guarantee only if configured to a specific network device entity can really play a role. There are various models of network devices, made by different equipment manufacturers, in current network environment. They not only support the QoS policy differently, their configuration management is different and thus on brought great difficulties to achieve the network QoS guarantee scheme uniformly.To slove the problems of network device configuration differences, this paper studies and design of a network device QoS configuration management system, can be unified configurate different network devices. The system is designed to receive the task parameters from the upper QoS management center, shielding different underlying network devices for the upper system, thus completing the effective QoS guarantee scheme.The system is based on the current most widely used network management protocol, SNMP, which has rich configuration capabilities and good versatility. By designing the device database, MIB file library and parser function module, QoS configuration management system handle the task parameters sent by the upper system corresponding to generate SNMP operations actually used by the device configuration, then achieve network equipment QoS policy automated configuration.The system is based on CoolView HD video conferencing systems, developed by Guangdong Province Laboratory of Computer Network independently, through configure the Qo S guarantee for its video conferencing to verify the validity of QoS Configuration System based on SNMP. The results show that this system effectively improve the quality of service for video conferencing, basically reached the beginning of the design of this system.
