With the development of economy and technology, the level of manufacturing counterfeit money improve quickly. Meanwhile, the existence of some illegal trading like Money Laundering, all those impact economic and financial activity deeply. Therefore it is imperative to improve the discriminating ability and add the ability of crown word numbers recognition.In 2010, the national standards on the universal technical requirements of RMB-banknote discriminating device released. The new standards require the technology of crown word numbers recognition and multispectral image identification. The image processing is the key point. By contrasting different image sensors, the CIS sensor is the most suitable for new currency counter, for it has some advantages like small size, low power and multispectral etc. Therefore this article puts forward to the currency counter based on CIS.This article mainly introduce building process of the hardware and software platform. The main contents include the following three aspects:(1)According to the new standards’ request, we design the whole product solution that based on CIS and DSP+CPLD frame and selects the chips and software for it.(2)The concrete design thinking of hardware and software is introduced. The software part includes low-level drivers program, μC/OS-II transplantation and tasks design. The hardware part introduces both the schematic diagram and PCB design in detailed, which emphasize how to deal with high speed circuit.(3)The debugging part includes four contents, such as the application of cache in the system, code optimization, image color adjustment and DSP’s throughput capacity testing, which contain analyzing process and testing result.Finally the development of banknote discriminating device was completed, which has high recognition rate, integration, stability.
