The political conflicts are always the hot topic in the international communication. How to report on the topic of internationally political issues is an essential approach to acquire international credibility, participate in global issues and establish the field of news discourse.In this paper, we would try to discuss how the media with different backgrounds of ideologies and concepts make reports on the same topic and how the media present the political conflicts. The analysis involves the case study of the news reports of Ukraine events in People’s Daily and New York Times. how to convey connotation through words.This paper conclude the theories of Discourse Analysis. Based on the works of Van dijk, and combining the case study of People’s Daily and New York Times’ news reports on Ukraine Issues,this paper discusses the news reports’ significance in meaning interaction and reality construction as the public discourse.As the main part of this paper, the case study explore the following questions: firstly, what kind of textual features the reports of People’s Daily and New York Times have. Secondly, how the media shape the Ukraine Issues through news reports, and with what mode of discourse the media covey the ideologies and concepts; finally, considering the social context and interactive process of topics in reports, this paper analyzes the methods of conforming the information’s validity and how to realize the significance of discourse.The emphasis is comparing the news reports of People’s Daily and New York Times from the perspectives of Discourse Analysis, concluding the differences in Chinese and Western newspapers, and providing conferences for practice of news writing and research.
