The Discourse Construction Of Artificial Intelligence Issues In Mainstream Media In China And The United States

In recent years,with the development of artificial intelligence technology,the specific application scenarios of artificial intelligence have been applied in all aspects of social life,which has caused the issue of artificial intelligence to receive extensive attention from many parties.From a national perspective,the State Council issued a comprehensive development plan for the new generation of artificial intelligence in 2017.Artificial intelligence has been included in the national development strategy plan and has become a national discourse for technological innovation and China's strength building.The United States,the world's number one power in science and technology,has since completed the signing of the "American Artificial Intelligence Initiative",which has raised its strategic significance from artificial intelligence to a national level.China and the United States are both at the forefront of the world in the development of artificial intelligence technology.This article attempts to explore how the Chinese and American media,under the background of different professional concepts and different ideologies,present the topic of artificial intelligence under the topic of artificial intelligence,and what kind of media reports of the two countries' media on emerging technology topics present.The characteristics of discourse and how this discourse is constructed are also the questions this article attempts to answer.Based on the theoretical level of the discourse analysis,the author uses the discourse analysis proposed by Van Dijk to construct an analysis system;analyzes the artificial intelligence content reported by the "New York Times" and "People's Daily".In-depth discussion of the role of news with the function of discourse construction and presentation of public discourse on social practice.This article focuses on two aspects of the discussion: What are the characteristics of the discourse presentation of the People's Daily and the New York Times on artificial intelligence issues? What are the similarities and differences? What are the strategies for constructing the discourse of the two media? Finally,this article combines the different political,social,cultural contexts of China and the United States and the discourse construction of news texts,and analyzes the ideology of the discourse construction of artificial intelligence issues in the mainstream media of China and the United States and the social practice of discourse.This article focuses on the research of artificial intelligence news reported by The New York Times and People's Daily from the discourse level.At the same time,the contrast discourse summarizes the differences and conditions in constructing discourse and discourse presentation between Eastern and Western media."People's Daily" reports usually have a positive color,and are in line with the country's strategy for the development of high-tech,aiming to spread the development of emerging technologies and have a positive effect on the development of human society.Guide the audience to embrace technology.The "New York Times" starts from the perspectives of economic life,international competition,technological risks,etc.The discourse of the report shows that there is a close connection with national interests,emphasizing the scientific and technological competition between countries and the risk and uncontrollability of artificial intelligence technology.,Affecting the audience's perception of technology.
