An Analysis On The Discourse Construction In The Reports Regarding The NPC & CPCC From A Perspective Of Discourse Analysis

This research took the Program of Witness the Responsibility Fulfillment as an example, and adopted the discourse analysis approaches by Fairclough and Van Dijk to analyze it from the perspective of news production. Several dimensions including discourse text analysis, discourse practice analysis, discourse context analysis and social practice analysis would be involved in this research.The research discovered that the discourse construction of the program was characterized by "margin breakthrough" and "finite innovations". During the discourse construction of the program, mass media played a role of "producer" and "manager" while the deputies served as "interpreters" and "implementers". The public engaged themselves in the program as the consulted. These different roles played by them determined their different discourse patterns which were strongly associated with their statuses. In the public discussion initiated by the mass media, officials and media emerged as the information providers and question answerers who controlled the absolute discursive power over the public who can only be guided. This program is dedicated to exploring a space between the government and the people, where it can sound its own voice. The program is subjected to the government. Yet meanwhile, it also demonstrated the observation power of the program which is completely different from the managerial authority of the government. Such a power serves the people but also guides people’s opinions on some concrete questions.This research adopted the methodologies of discourse analysis and participatory observation, and attempted to innovate in terms of the research significance and research methodologies by digging more information out from the news production mechanism. This research would analyze the television texts, and built on this, such texts would also be observed in a certain social discourse context. The purpose is to extend the research perspective to the entire society. For the program as a case in this research, it is conducive to optimizing the political news reporting approaches taken by the mainstream media like CCTV, which may help to improve the news coverage over the two conferences.
