The Research And Implementation Of The BPM-based Residency Management System In A General Hospital

With continuous change and perfection of policies and regulations of standardized residency training, business processes of residency training are constantly changing. Business Process Management(BPM) method has been preliminary applied in the process optimization of outpatient and radiology workflow in the hospital. Through BPM lifecycle management including process discovery, process definition, process execution and process management, there has an active effect of efficiency and quality of medical services. However, BPM is still being applied to the core processes of medical services and financial management-related processes. The number of application cases using BPM method in the processes of medical teaching and residency management is still tiny. Researching and building residency management system through BPM technology, is a new trend of residency management.In this paper, according to the current situations and existing problems of residency management and business integration, we conducted in-depth research in building a large hospital-based residency management system using BPM technology. Based on investigation of daily operations and existing systems of residency training management in a large general hospital, we implemented analysis and optimization of business process and then bulided information system based on BPM. The goal of the research is to build a flexible residency training management systems which meeting the business requirements.Research will mainly be made in the following aspects: 1) Analysis of building residency management based on BPMThrough analysis of business processes of residency management, we can abstract the business processes using BPMN, identifying activities, gateways, events and processes steering of entire business process; analyzing key processes of rotation of residency training, evaluation of rotation and online study etc.; Drawing up BPMN business process diagrams; Proposing the approach of establishment of a graphical process model. A complete business model is being formed being used with the UML use case diagram. Integrity and accuracy constraint of business processes is the guarantation of the quality of information system. 2) Integration of residency management systems and core medical systemsBy parsing, processing and communicating of structured data in residency management system using XML-based HL7 interface engine, it can solve the seamless data and application connection between management information system and core medical system. With that foundation of the structured training and teaching medical cases and knowledge, it can do spadework of required medical record report to health and family planning commission. 3) Design and implementation of residency management system based on BPMOn the basis of the business process modeling and data integration, the overall design strategy of system and database could be given. The modules of residency management system including personnel and training plan management, online study, training and evaluation management and case report could be developed and operated correctly based on B/S three-tier architectures, middleware and programming with OOP.Finally, I’ll verify the effectiveness and reasonableness of BPM-based residency management system through KPI and actual application of information system in hospital.
