As the e-business application came forth and expands quickly, the enterprise application on internet got a rapid development. The three (or multiple) tiers distributed application architecture which based on Middleware platform has become more and more popular. Middleware has been treated as one key technic on distributed enterprise application. This paper mainly analyses and explains two middleware technics and their use in the project named Flight Test and Measurement Engineering DataBase(FT&MEDB), which are EJB (Enterprise Java Bean) and JMS(Java Message Service). It also enters into designing schemes and implementary teenies of the EJB container and the JMS server according to a open source code application server-JBOSS.Main research contents and innovations:1. Summing up the developing statuses of the middleware technic and application server, finding out their conception and function.2. Designing a collectivity architecture of this project. Three tier application architecture based on J2EE platform was finally adopted after compared with other schemes. WebLogic of BEA Inc. was selected as the application server for this project.3. The study of EJB, JMS and how to use WebLogic.4. Implementing some modules with EJBJMS and some other technics. Analyzing advantages in using these technices. Accomplishing the configuration and debugging of Web application on application server.5. Researching design schemes and realization teenies of EJB container and JMS server. After reading source codes, schemes have been concluded and explained. Some design teenies and design patterns are also concluded, including instance pool, threads pool, plugin, etc. Also decorator pattern, abstract factory pattern, strategy pattern, etc, are included.6. This paper has own questions to JMS server scheme of JBOSS and corresponding improving ideas. They are expanding of message transport and processes, improvement of Topic on server and improvement of Basicqueue on server.
