The transaction middleware is a very important one in the big family of middleware, which is a hot spot in the area of software development at present. From the market aspect, transaction middleware occupies more than half of the whole middleware market. According to the statistics of IDC (International Data Company), the global annual turnover of middleware transaction of 2004 is $9.7 billion, which has increased 225% compared with the $2.7 billion of 1999. On the other hand, because of the short history of middleware research, we are almost at the same level with other countries (especial ly America) in this area, or, in another word, we are not far behind the developed countries. Thus, the middleware has attracted great attention of the domestic software industry.According to certain statistics, American company BEA has occupied as much as 70% of the whole middleware transaction market with its middleware products. Along with the current globalization, all kinds of middleware products from both overseas and domestic are raising a fierce competition in China's market, therefore, the middleware transaction, which used to be a big chance for us, is not as blank as before. The research and appliance of middleware, especially those based on practice, calls for reinforcement. At present, China has made certain progress in middleware research and practice, but they were mainly theoretical, and have not been adequately applied to the practice of middleware system research and development, let alone the research on appliance technologies. This paper was based on a transaction middleware program MUSE2, which was developed by the author during graduate school. The main characters of MUSE are: 1. supporting the design & development paradigm, which is based on service, reducing the development time of applications; 2. using soft bus architecture, which leads to better extensibility and maintenance; 3. using zero memory copy design method and purified thread pool technology...
