Programmable Logic Controller was borned in the United States at the end of 60 century, it was called PLC(Programmable Controller), the purpose was to replace relay, to perform Logic, timing, counting and other sequence control function. The basic design idea of PLC was to combine with the advantages of the computer function’s perfect, flexible, general and relay control system of simple, easy to operate and cheap, the hardware of the controller is generic and standard,. According to the real application objects, write the control content into software and download into the controller user memory. The controller connect the controlled object became convenient.With the development of semiconductor technology, especially the microprocessor and microcomputer technology, by the mid 70 century, the PLC had been widely used microprocessor as the CPU, large and mass scale integrated circuit were used in input and output module and peripheral circuit, then the PLC is not only a logic function, but also have the function of data processing, PID control and data communication.With the development of industry, science and technology are also in progress. The past PLC architecture increasingly unable to meet the requirements of modern industrial automation technology, so all the major R&D manufacturers began to study the current most popular ARM transplant to PLC, injected fresh blood, improve the overall performance of the PLC. To understand the actual needs of PLC in the field of industrial control, access to a large number of relevant materials about design and ARM embedded at home and abroad, choose suitable for high function of the application of dual ARM 9 as the main processor.In-depth analysis of the structure of the embedded hardware design, system parameter calculation, etc., expounds the overall design of the module hardware architecture.At the same time, according to the design idea, the use of funds and resources available to make a few samples, design the parameters of the test, function test, etc., to verify the feasibility of this design.In this article the research content is to design a PLC system based on ARM embedded module, bus structure, a new generation of PLC module using a dual-core CPU for data processing, compatible with a variety of communications and the digital quantity input/output protocol specification, thus improving the overall performance has higher anti-interference ability and guarantee under the condition of steady work.Focus on the hardware circuit design, and according to the actual debugging module design of PLC system to consummate gradually.
