Since twenty-first Century, optical transmission technology develops rapidly. Optical network structure is also gradually changing from the traditional chain type and ring type to the latest mesh type. Automatic switched optical network(ASON) emerge as the times require. Its purpose is to open business channel in complex optical network quickly and accurately and provide efficient services for operators. Automatic switched optical network, as one kind of special intelligent optical network, for the convenience of management, is divided into three parts: control plane, transport plane and management plane. The control plane is the innovation part of ASON, responsible for the discovery of link and creating, modifying and deleting the intelligent service. The transport plane is still responsible for business transmission, protection configuration for the business and optical cross connection. The management plane is responsible for the management and maintenance of the other two parts: control plane and transport plane. How to implement the management feature for control plane which is lack in traditional optical network management system based on the intelligent equipment in OTN is the problem that ASON technology and engineering application need to resolve.This article takes the actual project as the research background, the project comes from a optical transmission equipment manufacturer which is the ranking leader in the optical transmission industry. Hereinafter this company is called T company. Based on the key technology of the control plane management and the analysis of system requirements, it hasthe system design and detailed design and completed the control plane management system for ASON. The management system uses a convenient layered architecture, divided into basic service layer, service layer and presentation layer, including the node and link management, call and connection management, protection and recovery management module. System test and practical operation in the customer where the results show that, the management system is very effective and reliable.The research work in this thesis mainly includes the following features compared with the other management system of the same type:1. This system implemented the control plane management of optical layer in the node and link management. It not only implemented the link management in the business card transceiver(transponder) physical port side, at the same time in the OADM side, also realized the link management for OTS. By creating service circuit quickly between the business cards and OADM in NEs, ASON greatly enhanced the work efficiency.2. In the call and connection management the system added the explicit path management. Users can customize the service path, can set that the call path between two points must pass by which paths, but also can set the path to avoid during the route.3. This system realized the flexible protection and restoration management, especially introduced the rerouting management. Automatic switched optical network with protection can be automatically rerouting in the event of a failure, automatically refind a working path for the restoration. And rerouting management is designed so that users can initiate the rerouting operation from the network management and can also specify the path to pass or avoid.
