The delay of fundamental business is an important indicator of the quality of the network. With the growing market competition, the too long connection delay in current network will seriously affect customer perception, which is a focus problem. It is one of the most important factors in the competitiveness of the corporate network, seriously affecting the user’s choice in the telecom market where the Competition is becoming more and more incentive today. Therefore, we strive to optimize as much as possible under the current network connection to shorten the delay, improve network quality. Now there are two mainstream methods to improve calling performance. O ne focus on position management to solve is how to efficiently manage update access users’ location information. In core network it can reduce the overhead of the Home Location Register(HLR)/ Visitor Location Register(VLR) updates, and increase numbers of paging and paging interval in wireless network. Another focus is calling protocols and processes, such as early assignment to shorten the delay. However, these methods may lead to increase network load or large upgrade of existing network equipment. This paper is starting from the core network. We do dial tests in different time and place. We track and Analysis related signaling processes to analyze the time occupied by the various processes and identify areas may be optimized. Comprehensive on "identity", "encryption" and "authentication" process functions, business impact, time-consuming, we found that these processes are not essential., Taking into account factors such as device support, we decided to make reservations for switch configuration "identity" conversation to get International Mobile Subscriber Identity(IMEI) information; removing process "encryption" dialogue; adjusting the authentication parameter group numbers from one to four that switch ask for from HLR; removing the radio resource allocation process Short Message Service Mobile Terminated(SMS-MT) process. And then we implement it.By redoing dial test and signaling collected, we verify the results that the Global System For Mobile Communication(GSM) call connection delay is shorted by 0.6-0.9 seconds, location update delay is shorted by 0.4 seconds, the Short Message Service Mobile Original(SMS-MO) average delay is shortened by 0.4 seconds, the SMS-MT reduce the average delay of about 0.4 seconds, and authentication information between the Mobile Switching Center(MSC) and HLR the request message volume decreased, which all conform previous expectations.
