Design And Implementation Of UC Integration Platform For Investment Enterprise

Along with the continuous deepening and expanding of the informatization in all industries, enterprise user’s needs for various of ICT services have also been grown rapidly.Among them, UC(Unified Communication) as the most up-to-date generation enterprise communication service has drawn serious attention. Current enterprises’ more and more prominent demands for teleworking, mobility in working, collaboration among multi-sites and cost control make UC technology to be increasingly important to the operation of the enterprise, especially for those financial firms. For them, the deployment and use of UC solutions will be significantly important to their business development.As one of the largest private equity firms, CDH Fund(hereinafter referred as CDH or enterprise) has its own requirements about the UC system setting up: in addition to achieve the features such as teleworking, mobility in working, collaboration among multi-sites, more important for them is how exactly to achieve those features and how much they can be achieved. Currently, those leading companies of UC industry such as Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya,IBM and etc all have developed and launched their own UC products and corresponding solutions, but against the increasingly customized requirements from end users, how to provide customized and most suitable solutions to those enterprises is still a major problem.Based on existing UC solutions, then combined with the actual requirements of CDH, in this essay we designed a customized UC integration platform for them, this customized UC solution won the public bid and has been successfully implemented then delivered to end user after seven month’s provisioning. The solution mainly includes: enterprise network architecture building up, Cisco-IPT based enterprise communication system deployment,vmware vsphere cluster setting up by combing CDH existing sever with newly purchased server, CUCM and Microsoft Lync integration and deployment via virtualization which seamlessly docking the devices from two entirely different vendors: Cisco and Microsoft.This essay was originally designed based on the fact that even those major manufacturers of the industry have already had their own mature solutions and products, however during theactual implementations, those standard solutions are not always fitting well with enterprises’ actual needs. Especially when devices and platforms provided by multiple vendors are involved in company’s existing IT infrastructure,these standard solutions will have serious issues such as poor integration level and mutual technical barriers among each other. Another outstanding issue is that although vendors like Microsoft, Cisco and IBM have been highly experienced on software/hardware developing, but in order to put a special system like UC into its maximum performance, specific design regarding company’s network topology is also required. However, this is not an area that Microsoft, Cisco are good at. But it will be a totally different story for telecom carriers like us,company network implementation is one of ours specialty.This essay will mainly focus on the research of following:(1) The background info and practical significance to design this UC platform for CDH(2) Researching on the design method of the UC solution(3) Analyze and work out the integration solution of Cisco, Microsoft platform, and verify its practical results.(4) Design and implementation enterprise network, UC platform as well as virtualization platform in one projectResearch result of this essay is that this is an attempt of innovation in the ICT area for a traditional carrier like our company, by analyzing customer’s UC requirements through unique perspective as a carrier, we worked out a reasonable, stable, highly integrated and scalable solution and successfully implemented it, solve company’s actual problem.The significance of this essay is that, first of all, by comparing and analyzing existing solutions to this innovated solution, we can figure out the differences on ICT services especially UC implementation among carriers, devices manufactures and internet companies.This will have practical significance in carriers’ attempts to transform to ICT integration providers. Secondly, this is a successful innovation on both designing and implementation,which will be a great reference for future projects, finally and undoubtedly the most fundamental is that this solution effectively solve the real problems for the end user.
