TFT LCD is most widely used in display field, but OLED is more and more popular in display mobile devices field by its own advantages. The display panel manufacturers of Samsung, LG, Visionox, BOE have their own independent production line of OLED panel. Since the update of manufacturing process and the manufacturing technology continuing to mature, the production rate of large size is improved, which make the OLED display resolution become higher in practical application.The performance of diver IC directly has influence on the panel display image quality. Although high resolution AMOLED display panel need more source driving channels and faster data transmission speed, how to reduce the number of output buffers and high resolution display source driver has pretty high practical application value. This paper will study and design the source driver which can drive the resolution of 800-RGB×1280-dot AMOLED panel.This paper will design the source driver system architecture meeting the requirements of high resolution AMOLED panel though the research of AMOLED display driver theory. The source driver includes GAMMA correction and grayscale voltage generator, display data latch circuit, grayscale voltage selector and source driver. GAMMA voltage generator has 6bit voltage precision and 6 adjustable GAMMA voltage references for adjusting GAMMA curve. Grayscale voltage selector is 64 to 1 multiplexer, which can select the grayscale voltage the pixel need to the next output buffer. The performance of output buffer affects the source driver directly. In this paper, we use the timing sharing structure to reduce the number of output buffer. Using timing sharing structure means shorter establishing time of grayscale voltage which make the design of operational amplifier become harder and be restrict by panel loading. In order to solve the restriction of large panel loading, this paper presents a rapid charging output buffer which can shorten the establishing time of grayscale voltage. The rapid charging structure is suitable for high resolution and large size AMOLED display panel.The design of source driver use the 0.18μm CMOS process in this paper. Verification of the source driver will be establish finally.
