All the time, the most prevalent display technology is liquid crystal display(LCD). The market and scientific institution promoted this technology into a mature and stable period.Some enterprises,represented by Samsung and LG,study intensively and make it industrial.Rapid progress over the last decade on AMOLED led to the emergence of high-performance,low-power,low-cost flat panel displays.The future of AMOLED display will be large size,higher power efficiency,higher resolution,more colorful,flexible physical structure,which makes AMOLED driver should have more channel for high resolution,faster signal transmission speed and shorter established time for screen refesh rate,and lower power consumption and smaller area to cater to the application environment of the chip.The source driver circuit is suitable for full HD AMOLED display which resolution is 1200RGB×1920 and have 16777216 colors.This thesis introduced the principle of TFT-AMOLED display in detail,elucidated the functional requirements of the external AMOLED driver chip,which point the way of external driver design.Based on the requirements,reasonable system parameters were estabilished.The source driver of this thesis is consist of GAMMA correction circuit,grayscale voltage generator,two stage of data latch,voltage level shift circuit,DAC,and output buffers.The source driver includes 1:1working mode and output buffers timing sharing mode.If the driver chip is applied to low resolution display,the output buffers timing sharing mode could reduce the power consumption of the chip.According to the spec,using HSPICE to simulate all block of this system,and setting many process corner to simulate the production and process environment.This thesis presents the layout of source driver.Because of the 8 bit 256 gray scale voltage and a lot of channels,the line of layout is very complex.The width of each channel is set to 12μmto reduce the area of source driver.Finally,the thesis presents the post simulation and analyze the results.The design of source driver use the 0.09μm high voltage CMOS process.Finally finished all the design and simulation work,and send it to tape out.
