AMOLED is based on red,green,and blue three-color organic self-emitting materials as carriers to achieve full-color RGB display display technology.In theory,with the continuous improvement of the integration of luminescent materials,the resolution of the AMOLED display can be increased accordingly.However,due to the limitation of the area of the light-emitting material and the cost of the process,it is no longer tried to increase the resolution by increasing the integration level.The Pentile arrangement is a new display sub-pixel arrangement for AMOLED displays,which has matured with the wide application of AMOLED display materials.For displays with Pentile arrangement,there are only two materials on each display unit,and the material area is large.The sub-pixel order is rearranged through the Pentile arrangement,and combined with the corresponding SPR(Sub-pixel rendering)algorithm,the resolution can be increased in the horizontal and vertical directions.Therefore,the research of SPR algorithm based on Pentile arrangement has important application value for AMOLED display.This project is based on an AMOLED mobile phone screen driver chip project of my internship company.The main content is the design and verification of the sub-pixel rendering algorithm module on the algorithm flow of the internal system of the driver chip.This article consists of two parts:One part is the research on the internal architecture of AMOLED mobile phone screen driver chip and the realization of the SPR algorithm hardware circuit module.Based on the study and research of the Pentile display arrangement technology and the basic principles of the SPR algorithm,considering the algorithm implementation effect and the hardware circuit resource consumption,by adding a dynamic adjustment of the filtering parameter design to the SPR algorithm,an improved SPR algorithm for calculating output sub-pixels with the help of 8 surrounding sub-pixels is proposed and adopted.Based on the research on the internal architecture of the driver chip system,the system design plan and logic design plan of the SPR algorithm module are proposed.Using the top-down design method,the hardware circuit module based on the improved SPR algorithm is designed and implemented in Verilog language,and the design of each sub-function module in the module is completed.The other part is the complete functional simulation verification of the completed SPR algorithm circuit module to ensure the correctness of the hardware circuit design.By analyzing the internal structure of the SPR algorithm module and the external interface and timing of the module in the AMOLED driver chip,based on the UVM verification methodology,the corresponding functional verification platform structure was designed,and a verification platform with a clear structure and a high degree of automation was established,and complete the design of each verification component in the platform.According to the system specifications and design requirements,the SPR algorithm module is analyzed for verification requirements analysis and functional verification points are refined,and corresponding simulation test cases are written.Based on the established UVM verification platform,VCS simulation tools are used to perform functional simulation verification of the SPR algorithm module.Analyze the errors and vulnerabilities of hardware circuit design through simulation results,and use the VCS simulator to automatically collect coverage.Improve the coverage by optimizing simulation test cases,and use the coverage index to determine whether the verification work is complete.The coverage results show that the code coverage reaches 96.22%,which meets the requirements for the completeness of current chip verification technology.In this paper,the hardware circuit implementation and functional verification of the improved SPR algorithm module are studied.The designed SPR algorithm module improves the effect of the sub-pixel reproduction display screen,and has high practical value for AMOLED display.At the same time,the UVM verification platform built for the SPR algorithm module has the advantages of high degree of script automation and strong portability,which can be used for verification of other projects or modules,thereby shortening the chip development cycle.
