The emergence of wireless sensor network changes the way of communication for information between people and objects. Because of the characteristics of easy deployment, low cost and self-organized, wireless sensor network has great application value in the fields of military defense and environmental monitoring. And it is the focus of attention in academia, industry circles and even military circles. However, while wireless sensor network runs independently, it can’t provide direct service for others. In order to realize the sharing of resource and the remote service access, we need to make wireless sensor network which is heterogeneously access to IP network by some kind of access method.First of all, this thesis analyses the heterogeneity and communication process of the sensor network and abstracts the basic interaction model of sensor networks. Based on this model, it designs a scheme of gateway adaptation for heterogeneous wireless sensor network and next generation network IPv6 network. This scheme improves the complexity of the network structure, the inflexibility of sensor network protocol choosing and the situation that user can’t real-time address sensor nodes in the existing scheme.Based on the analysis above, this thesis designs hardware and software for low power sensor nodes which are based on ZigBee, and gives solution to make the nodes access to IPv6 network by adaptation. For the problem that the sensor network nodes’ supply resource is constrained, it also analyses the distribution of the energy consumption in the adaption wireless network system and develops a low power strategy of hardware and software from the angle of application. According to the strategies, this thesis designs hardware and software for ZigBee sensor network, and extends the service life of the communication of wireless sensor network and IPv6 network.Finally, this thesis builds a computer room management system which follows the principle of sensor network adaptation mentioned above, on the basis of three layer architecture of internet of things, so that sensing information can access to the application platform of the Internet of things by IPv6 network.So the external network user can monitor the computer room remotely. And then it verifies the feasibility of the sensor network adaption scheme and its design of ZigBee nodes’ accessing, adapting and working with low power consumption by the demonstration of the system and the performance test of the sensor network.
