With the development of the media-oriented society, the communication model of face-to-face is gradually replaced by that of man-machine-man style. The main part of this communication mechanism is a broad social group who are called "curtilage male and curtilage female", including students, office workers, network professionals, academic workers and so on. In the past, people regarded the otaku phenomenon as a social problem, but now it has been a common social phenomenon, which is widely accepted by people. When the new media help curtilage man solve the troubles of daily life,it is also bringing new ones to them, which has been a fundamental problem behind the shift.Although the emergence of cyberspace has extended people’s virtual living space,it is shrinking people’s daily living space. Will the virtual cyberspace completely replace physical living space and become human’s main living place? And what is the root of otaku phenomenon? In fact, it is not only the the product of media, but also a kind of common way of life of postmodern society. If just embarking from the view of communication to make a critical study in them, it can only expose the surface reasons of the problem. Therefore, the author use the philosophy concept, alienation,to ponder on the problem of curtilage man’s living space in the new media environment and reflect on the problem of otaku phenomenon in the context of postmodernism.
