Today, the efficient use of communication and information resources has become increasingly important. Data center is the core of the the development of information technology, also by reducing the equipment cost, simplifying the data center network management, improving resource utilization and other methods to alleviate problems caused by the expanding scale. To this end, a number of new technologies are used for the data center.FCoE has been propsoed as a technology of LAN/SAN convergence in Data Center, and used to reduce data center equipment costs and energy consumption, but there are also centralization of traffic, and poor compatibility between the devices. SDN technology as a new network model has also been introduced into the data center networks, used to improve resource utilization, simplify network management, and promote the network innovation. However, SDN technology is mainly used for local area networks, its flexible control is rarely used for LAN/SAN networks. Therefore, the application of SDN technology in FCoE network, not only can alleviate the inherent problems of FCoE, but also can further expand the application of SDN technology in the data center.This thesis selects NOX which is an open source control software as the development platform. The ability to control the FCoE network will be added in NOX, without changing the original control function of NOX controller based on Ethernet.To this end, NOX controller can be used in LAN/SAN convergence network.The thesis firstly introduces FC and FCoE network technology, and on this basis, describes some of the deficiencies of the existing FCoE networks. Then the SDN technology and the OpenFlow protocol architecture are analyzed, with an emphasis on architecture level NOX control software platform is analyzed, for which the common components and events introduced. And then proposed to achieve control of FCoE network in the NOX control platform, namely the application of SDN technology in LAN/SAN converged network. To this end, a functional component for FCoE network is designed in NOX, without changing the original function of NOX control software and to maximize the use of the original NOX components. So, the overall design scheme of this component is given, and detailed design is completed according to the overall design. Finally, different test environments are set up to test the function of component according to the design goals, and analysis of test results is given.
