Research And Implementation Of Flogin Process In Fcoe Network

With the high-speed development of information technology and the rapid expansion of storage capacity, local storage technology can not meet the actual needs. Storage area network (SAN) and virtual storage area network (VSAN) has increasingly become the mainstream of today’s storage technology, with advantages such as highperformance, high availability and high scalability. The earliest storage area network technology communicate based on fiber-optic network and Fibre Channel (FC) protocol, which greatly increases the cost of SAN technology promotion. To decrease the cost, FCoE agreement combined the FC protocol with Ethernet technology appears, whose core idea is to transmit FC packets through Ethernet by adding Ethernet packet header to FC packets. The emergence of FCoE protocol makes it possible for storage area network to share an integrated network infrastructure with Ethernet and transmit SAN packets via Ethernet. FCoE will become the dominant storage transport protocol in the future.In FCoE network, the network device address is assigned via FLOGIN negotiate process, and this is the first step of communication between network devices. In this paper, the FCoE system is firstly divided into some modules including link negotiation module and routing module. We mainly analyse the FLOGIN negotiation process in link negotiation module. Using a top-down method, FLOGIN negotiation process is divided into three processes including FLOGIN within physical VSAN, EEVFP and FLOGIN within working VSAN. In each process we carry on a detailed needs analysis and coding, including the design and implementation of the data structure, the constructing and parsing of packets and the sending and receiving of packets. The paper finally ensure the function of FLOGIN by testing, validation and modification.
