Recently, with the rapid development of modular technology, modular instruments are becoming one of the research hotspots.This kind of system has some great characteristics: modular, intelligent, and redefinable, which can also implement data acquisition with high speed and accuracy. Compared with traditional instruments,modular system has complicated functions, varied modules, strong extensibility and strict standardization that requires more on hardware and software design.Based on MicroTCA(Micro Telecommunication Computing Architecture) and AMC(Advanced Mezzanine Card) standards, this dissertation presents a new modular data acquisition system architecture. It has four notable features: data acquisition by FMC module loaded on AMC carrier module, which improves the modularity of the system; multiple-protocol modules’ communication with MicroTCA’s backplane bus technology, implementing customized and high rate data transmission; comprehensive monitoring of modules and remote management based on IPMI(Intelligent Platform Management Interface) specifications; MicroTCA supports up to twelve modules,which can easily extend according to the requirements.The System is consisted of data acquisition module and DSP module.Module’s design refers both hardware and software in strict accordance with AMC.0 specification.Data acquisition module supports various COTS FMC products. Dual channel data acquisition FMC modules are used for the system, implementing 500MSPS/12 bits and400MSPS/14 bits data acquisition. Through the MicroTCA backplane, DSP module is connected to data acquisition module with a very high data rate, the data read can be stored in DSP’s memory or upload to the host. The dissertation specifically discusses system’s architecture, data acquisition module’s hardware, module management controller, DSP software, and their implementations.Finally, the dissertation verifies all the functions by testing, experiment results prove the practicability and effectiveness of design.
